Overview

NextCloud is a self-hosted cloud storage platform that allows you to store and share your files. You can add additional storage to your NextCloud installation using external storage providers, such as Brixly FTP Storage. This guide will walk you through the process of adding Brixly FTP Storage to your NextCloud installation.

Instructions

  1. Log in to your NextCloud dashboard. You'll need to be an admin user to add external storage.

  2. Navigate to the 'Settings' section. You can find this by clicking on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the dashboard and selecting 'Settings' from the dropdown menu.

  3. Click on the 'External storages' option. This is located in the 'Administration' section on the left-hand side of the 'Settings' page.

  4. Click on the 'Add storage' button. This will open a new row in the external storage list.

  5. Select 'FTP' from the 'Add storage' dropdown menu. This will load the configuration options for an FTP storage provider.

  6. Fill in the configuration options as follows:

    • Folder name: Enter a name for this storage. This is the name that will be displayed in your NextCloud files list.

    • Host: Enter your assigned Brixly FTP Storage hostname, which should look something like <username>.brixly-storage.com.

    • Username: Enter your Brixly FTP Storage username.

    • Password: Enter your Brixly FTP Storage password.

    • Root: Enter the directory on your Brixly FTP Storage that you want to use for this NextCloud storage. This can be a directory you've created specifically for NextCloud.

    • Secure ftps: Enable this option to use FTPS, a more secure version of FTP that encrypts your data.

  7. Click on the 'Checkmark' icon to save your settings. NextCloud will now attempt to connect to your Brixly FTP Storage using the details you provided. If everything is configured correctly, you'll see a green checkmark next to your new storage in the list.

Your Brixly FTP Storage should now be available as external storage in your NextCloud files list. You can start uploading files to it, and they'll be stored on your Brixly FTP Storage instead of your NextCloud server
