1. Accessing MailScanner

  1. Log in to cPanel: Navigate to your cPanel dashboard.
  2. Find MailScanner: Locate the MailScanner icon under the "Email" section and click on it.


2. Configuring MailScanner Settings

Step 1: Basic Settings

  • Spam Scanning: Toggle spam scanning on or off.
  • Virus Scanning: Toggle virus scanning on or off.

Step 2: Spam Settings

  • Low Scoring SPAM: Define the action that takes place when low scoring SPAM is found. By default, route emails to the 'SPAM' folder.
  • High Scoring SPAM: Choose what happens to high risk SPAM. By default, delete the emails. 

Step 3: Whitelists and Blacklists

  • Whitelists: Add trusted email addresses or domains to ensure their emails are never marked as spam.
  • Blacklists: Add known spam sources to always block their emails. 
  • Allowed Format: *@domain.tld, name@domain.tld, *@*.tld or IP/CIDR, only one entry per line

4. Best Practices

  • Update Whitelists and Blacklists: Keep your whitelists and blacklists updated to minimize false positives and missed spam.
  • Monitor Spam Scores: Adjust your spam score threshold based on your experience with the tool to balance catching spam and receiving legitimate emails.
