Managing your website's files is a crucial part of maintaining your online presence. cPanel's File Manager provides an easy-to-use interface that allows you to handle these tasks directly from your web browser. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use it:

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

First, log in to your cPanel account. This is typically done by adding /cpanel to the end of your domain name in your web browser (e.g., www.yourdomain.com/cpanel).

Step 2: Access the File Manager

Once you're logged in, look for the 'Files' section on your cPanel home screen and click on 'File Manager'.

Step 3: Navigate Through Your Files

The File Manager will open in a new tab. On the left side, you'll see a directory tree that represents the file structure of your account. You can click on any folder in the tree to view its contents in the main panel on the right.

Step 4: Create, Upload, and Delete Files

  • To create a new file or folder, click on the '+File' or '+Folder' button at the top-left corner of the page, enter the name of the file or folder, and click 'Create'.
  • To upload a file, click on the 'Upload' button at the top of the page, then select the file from your computer. The file will be uploaded to the currently selected directory.
  • To delete a file or folder, select it by clicking on its name, then click the 'Delete' button at the top of the page. Confirm the deletion in the popup that appears.

Step 5: Edit Files

To edit a file, select it by clicking on its name, then click the 'Edit' button at the top of the page. Make your changes in the text editor that appears, then click 'Save Changes' at the top-right corner of the page.

Step 6: Move and Copy Files

To move or copy a file, select it, then click the 'Move' or 'Copy' button at the top of the page. In the popup that appears, enter the file path where you want to move or copy the file, then click 'Move File(s)' or 'Copy File(s)'.

Step 7: Compress and Extract Files

To compress files into a .zip archive, select them, then click the 'Compress' button at the top of the page. Choose 'Zip Archive', enter a name for the archive, and click 'Compress File(s)'. To extract a .zip archive, select it, then click the 'Extract' button at the top of the page.
